Topic 1: SQL Server 2017: In-Database Analytics with Python


Abstract:Starting with the CTP 2.0 release of SQL Server 2017, you can now bring Python-based intelligence to your data in SQL Server. In the session, you will explore in-database analytics with Python.

Speaker Profile:

Ben Sadeghi is a Big Data & Advanced Analytics Technical Specialist at Microsoft (Cloud & Enterprise – Southeast Asia), Ben contributed to several NASA and JAXA space missions. Ben is an active member of the open-source Julia language community. He holds an M.Sc. in computational physics, with an astrophysics emphasis.

Topic 2: Adaptive Query Processing in SQL Server 2017

Abstract: Adaptive Query Processing is one of the most important enhancements to be released in SQL Server 2017. Adaptive Query Processing adds intelligence to the optimizer and improves query plan choices significantly. Following session will provide an overview on Adaptive query processing and explain the scenarios at which Adaptive Query Processing automatically provides performance gain with no change to the code.

Speaker Profile:
Nagaraj Venkatesan(Microsoft Data Platform MVP,) is a SQL Server enthusiast since 2005 currently working as Senior Database Administrator for NCS Pte Ltd, Singapore. At NCS, Nagaraj maintains databases used by one of the busiest public facing applications in the city. As a active member of SQL Server community , Nagaraj leads the team managing Singapore SQL Server Pass Chapter ( User group ). As a part of the team, Nagaraj has organized many user group meet up sessions, in addition to being a regular speaker at them. Nagaraj shares his technical knowledge at strictlysql.blogspot.com and also by contributing at public SQL Server forums. He has also written articles at sqlservercentral.com.
